The Lock is a well located holiday apartment, with a private terrace you simply won’t want to leave. Set on the first floor, you are in a prime location literally next to the lock, where you can gaze over marina life, with fishing boats, cruisers and yachts passing by. There is lift access up to your apartment, making this an excellent option for those with mobility challenges needing accessible accommodation.
The private terrace provides a wonderful vantage point and an unusual benefit rarely offered in Sovereign Harbour, offering direct sunshine for much of the day.
It’s a stylish apartment, but also comfortable and practical. There is comfortable seating in the lounge from which to take in the scene, with multi-channel TV available and DVD player. The dining table seats four and provides a focal point from which to discuss activities ahead or adventures enjoyed around Eastbourne so far.
The separate kitchen is well equipped for self catering holidays, packed with all the utensils you’ll need, plus oven, hob, fridge (with small freezer compartment), microwave, dishwasher and a washer dryer.
The two bedrooms (one double and one twin) sleep up to four, making this an ideal choice for families or friends sharing Eastbourne holidays together. The master bedroom has an ensuite (walk-in) shower room, and there is also a family bathroom, with a bath and hand-held shower to rinse your hair.
Plenty to visit from Sovereign Harbour holiday rentals
The cafes, restaurants and cinema in Sovereign Harbour are an easy stroll away, just across the water, whilst Eastbourne is just an hour’s walk along the promenade or a quick 10 minute drive. There are many historical sites just a short trip away, including Pevensey and Bodium Castles, whilst Battle, arguably the most important place in English history, is around 20 minutes away (take a tour around the battlefield!).
All linen and towels are provided, with additional linen supplied for stays of more than a week, as with all our Sovereign Harbour holiday apartments. WiFi is provided and there is a large allocated space in the secure underground car park (large enough for a 4 x 4 or small van). Lift access is available from this level. Children of any age are welcome, and there are even some games on hand, making this a great choice for families. No pets permitted.
Bookings have a week long minimum stay and a Saturday changeover in peak season, although flexible arrival days and short stays may be possible out of season or last minute.

Great location. After two weeks at the far end of North Harbour overlooking the sea, the Lock offered a great contrast. It's fascinating to watch huge masts appear in the lock and see the yachts leaving and entering, among other vessels. We stayed at the apartment with our son, his wife and our 2-year-old grandson. We took the smaller, twin-bedded room which had good quality, comfortable mattresses (a must if you have back problems but the room is probably more suited to younger children as it is small with no wardrobe). The large terrace with it's picnic table and astro turf for the little one to play on was enjoyed by us all. He also loved all the toys provided! The bathrooms have been renovated to a high standard (although it is only practical to shower in the en-suite). The lock is only steps away and great fun to observe plus all the cafes and restaurants just a short walk. North and South Harbour both offer plenty of traffic-free walks.
Perfect place for a relaxing break. This beautiful apartment located in the South Sovereign Marina is a real delight. Every care has been taken here to make this a perfect location for a relaxing holiday with the option of a 10 minute walk to bars and a host of restaurants . If your looking for a view of the marina this place can not be beaten . We have had a wonderful time and would like to make a special mention for all the staff at Exclusively Eastbourne ( the letting agent ) who could not have been more helpful . Without doubt we shall be back again in the near future .
Great location and a comfortable stay. A lovely apartment overlooking the lock in the Sovereign Harbour marina. Warm and cosy for a cold and blustery week in November. Would definitely return.
Fabulous location. This apartment has one of the best locations in Sovereign Harbour. The terrace overlooks the locks so you can watch the sailboats pass through. You can walk to the beach in five minutes; restaurants are less than ten minutes away and a few more minutes to the shops. There is a frequent bus service to Eastbourne if you don't want to mess with parking and Hastings is only one hour away by bus. There is also a lovely paved trail along the beach to Eastbourne.
Peaceful week at the lock. Another nice week at this lovely apartment on the lock at sovereign harbour . As before apartment has everything you need and is kept to a high standard . All in all thanks again will be back i am sure ..
Perfect location and great apartment The Lock could not have been better and we had a fantastic holiday. The apartment owners have gone out of their way to make this apartment great for any age group. It is in a fantastic location overlooking the lock where boats come in and out of the marina. The apartment has an added bonus of a really good balcony from which you can see so much of the marina. It was nice to be on the first floor above the car park which meant that we didn't have to tiptoe about, although saying this the apartment block was very quiet and we seldom heard our neighbours. We are looking forward to our next visit.
Interesting and enjoyable Great spot on the marina - there are always boats of all sorts going in and out (and you can track most online if you look) and we liked watching the crews within the marina, as well as people watching on the walkways. The picnic bench is really great. The rooms are a good size, and there are plenty of toys and games in boxes around the place to keep everyone amused. The shops are a short walk, as is the beach and plenty of routes through interesting estates. The design and architecture of the whole development is high quality, and it is all quite posh! The only improvement would have been an awning for when it rains but I can see some things are not permitted to keep the look of the whole area.
Pets are not permitted. Strictly no smoking.
There is a week-long minimum stay and bookings run from Saturday to Saturday in peak season, although flexible arrival days may be possible out of season.
Costs include the weekly rent, a £30 booking fee and a returnable £200 security deposit. To book requires an immediate, non-refundable deposit of £200 per week booked (booking fee and a portion of the rent) and then the balance, including the security deposit, is due by no later than six weeks before your arrival. For stays of three weeks or more, you may be asked to pay a higher security deposit and/or booking deposit.
The checkout time is 10am on the day of departure – a fine may be applied if you do not leave on time. Please leave the property in good order – dispose of rubbish in external bins and wash up any pots/dishes or place in the dishwasher and switch on before you leave. If the accommodation is left in an unreasonable state, requiring deep cleaning, the cost for this will be deducted from your security deposit.
The security deposit will be returned to you within 1-2 weeks of your departure, minus any deduction for damage, loss or excessive cleaning required.
The property can only be used for the maximum number shown on the booking correspondence. It must not be used for improper, illegal or immoral purposes. Guests must not sub-let the property and must not change, add, move or remove any items of furniture, furnishings or structures inside or outside. Guests must not cause (nor allow any visitors to cause) any nuisance, annoyance or disturbance to neighbours, the property owner or the property owner’s agent.
