With a private swimming pool (heated from mid June to mid September), a well-maintained enclosed garden and a wonderful setting, this four bedroom holiday home provides the perfect base for extended families or friends looking for an idyllic escape.
The tranquil location close to Eastbourne’s historic Old Town offers easy access to the South Downs National Park, with trails up to Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters for exhilarating cliff-top walks, while the attractions and facilities of Eastbourne are also within easy reach.

This unique holiday home has an ‘upside-down’ design, with the main living space on the top floor (which is also the entry floor as the house is set on a slope) and the bedrooms, bathrooms and a second sitting room downstairs.
The entrance from street level opens into a wide, welcoming hallway which leads to a wonderfully spacious dining lounge, with captivating views over the countryside through huge floor-to-ceiling windows.
The dining table comfortably seats eight, and there is a large L-shaped sofa and additional comfy seating with the perfect vantage point to enjoy the scenery and relax – or step out on to the balcony, which overlooks the swimming pool and garden. A TV and DVD player are available if you can tear yourself away from the view.
The separate kitchen is well equipped with fridge-freezer, oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and a breakfast table for informal snacks or to catch up on your emails. A utility room houses a washing machine and second fridge freezer, plus there is a toilet/cloakroom on this level for easy access.
Step downstairs and there is a second sitting room, with an additional TV and games provided – ideal if the children want their own space or you can’t agree what to watch!
The master bedroom has a super kingsize bed and an entire wall of fitted wardrobes – so no need to skimp on your packing!
The second and third bedrooms are also large with fitted wardrobes – one has a super kingsize bed, while the other is a twin. The fourth, smaller twin bedroom is reserved for children – so the house can accommodate up to six adults and two children.
The main family bathroom has a bath and a separate walk in shower, plus there is a second shower room.
Outside the garden is attractive and well maintained, with patio furniture and sun loungers available for your enjoyment. Parents are asked to supervise children at all times – while the pool is fenced off for safety, there is also a laburnum tree in the grounds, which must not be touched as the plant and fruit are poisonous.
There is driveway parking for two cars, plus additional parking in the street. WiFi is provided, along with towels and linen, and a travel cot and/or high chair is available on request. This is a quiet, residential area, so parties are not permitted at this property. This is a great option for relaxation for those wanting to book holiday cottages with pools.
Eastbourne Old Town offers atmospheric history, with a 12th century church with Norman elements offering food for the soul, whilst The Lamb pub (also dating from the 12th century) provides more practical sustenance and conviviality.
Waitrose supermarket is close by for any necessary supplies or perhaps delights for a picnic you could enjoy in Gildredge Park or Motcombe Gardens.
If you fancy venturing further afield, why not catch the Coaster bus? You can jump aboard at the main road at the top of Pashley Road, and this makes stops all along the coast to Brighton – it is a fabulous way to see the sights. You can also hop off at a point and trek back – for example there is a lovely walk from Exeat across the Seven Sisters back to Eastbourne.
Parents with children should please be aware of the potential hazards before booking – as well as the swimming pool and the laburnum tree in the garden, the staircase within the property is an original 1970s ‘ranch style’ design, with horizontal planks that could be tempting to climb (see photos in gallery). Parents are able to close doors to the hallway to prevent small children reaching this stairway without them knowing.

There is a week-long minimum stay and bookings run from Saturday to Saturday in peak season, although flexible arrival days may be possible out of season.
The house is strictly no smoking and parties are not permitted. Guests must respect the pool rules (see full terms and conditions) and children must be supervised at all times, as there is a laburnum tree in the grounds (plant/fruit are poisonous) and a steep stairway internally.
Costs include the weekly rent, a £30 booking fee and a returnable £500 security deposit. To book requires an immediate, non-refundable deposit of £200 per week booked (booking fee and a portion of the rent) and then the balance, including the security deposit, is due by no later than six weeks before your arrival. For stays of three weeks or more, you may be asked to pay a higher security deposit.
The checkout time is 10am on the day of departure – a fine may be applied if you do not leave on time. Please leave the property in good order – dispose of rubbish in external bins and wash up any pots/dishes or place in the dishwasher and switch on before you leave. If the accommodation is left in an unreasonable state, requiring deep cleaning, the cost for this will be deducted from your security deposit. The security deposit will be returned to you within 1-2 weeks of your departure, minus any deduction for damage, loss or excessive cleaning required.
The property can only be used for the maximum number shown on the booking correspondence. It must not be used for improper, illegal or immoral purposes. Guests must not sub-let the property and must not change, add, move or remove any items of furniture, furnishings or structures inside or outside. Guests must not cause (nor allow any visitors to cause) any nuisance, annoyance or disturbance to neighbours, the property owner or the property owner’s agent.
Photo identification (e.g passport, driving license) and proof of address of lead guest must be provided. These can be scanned versions at time of booking, with original documents to be presented at check in.
