Record year for Tourism in Eastbourne

tourism in eastbourneIt’s been a buoyant year for tourism in Eastbourne with a record number of jobs and overall spend by tourists in the local economy up to £287m, according to the number crunchers at Tourism South East.

Apparently there are now some 8000 local jobs supporting tourism, the highest level ever recorded, representing over 20% of the total working population in and around Eastbourne.

International visitors are a key target for the town since they stay longer (5 nights more than UK visitors) and spend more (+173%!) so the 4% growth of this segment is a real cause for the town to celebrate. Throw in the devaluation of sterling since the Brexit vote meaning that it’s now even cheaper for overseas visitors and there is genuine cause for optimism.

We’ve certainly been thankful for a bumper year here at Exclusively Eastbourne, having hand-picked more sensational properties and stretched our prime locations into Pevensey Bay, with the hugely popular Pevensey Beach Retreat.

Our support team has expanded to make sure that our service levels remain at the highest levels, with our face-to-face check-ins (making sure our guests are fully relaxed and aware of all the facilities available at their holiday home and also in the wider area), upgraded website security and fast, efficient, but friendly communication.

More and more property owners are also appreciating the improving dynamics for tourism in Eastbourne and recognising the potential returns that holiday letting can provide and we’ve looked to provide a handy guide for starting a holiday let which has been well received.
