The hottest summer on record? Andy Murray hitting the tennis courts at Devonshire Park? Staycation bonanza? Whatever the reason, it seems that Eastbourne has enjoyed a tourist boom this summer.
This positive momentum has been picked up by The Telegraph, which recently ran an interesting article on the rise and rise of Eastbourne.
There are the natural wonders of Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters cliffs, the delights of the seafront and the invigorating air. Airbourne, with Red Arrow and the roaring Spitfires, Pre-Wimbledon tennis, weekly events such as the Motor Show, and regular theatre productions direct from the West End.shows.
For me, its the unmistakable whiff of positivity surrounding the town that really excites – not just the £85 million regeneration of the central shopping area and the £50 million re-development of the theatres, but new openings of independent cafes and restaurants I want to eat at and the clothes stores I want to shop in. Brighton remains an attractive occasional visit for a night out, but no longer is it the essential start point for buzz and creativity.
There is also a major film production in the offing locally for which we are providing accommodation to cast and crew, which I’d love to talk to you about (but would have to shoot you afterwards…not sure if I can let the cat out of the be quite yet!) so despite the the summer temperatures dipping we’re confident that Eastbourne will remain a hot property.
