Vine Cottage is the delightful conversion of former stables in the grounds of a Grade II-listed house in the Old Town area of Eastbourne, just a short distance from the town centre and 1.5 miles from the seafront and the iconic Victorian pier. A well behaved small adult dog that is neutered/spayed will be considered, meaning your favourite companion can enjoy the fun as well.
Immaculately refurbished and transformed, this historic holiday cottage has retained much of its charm and atmosphere and is beautifully presented accommodation. While an attached annexe to the main house, it is completely self contained, with its own private entrance and courtyard terrace.
The Old Town Eastbourne area is peppered with independent shops, historic churches and pubs (check out the roaring log fires at the 12th Century Lamb Inn and majestic St Mary’s church, also from the 12th Century). You can play tennis in Gildredge Park, feed the ducks in Motcombe Gardens or enjoy the finest pizzas in Eastbourne at Pizzarelli (you might tell that we love Old Town Eastbourne – we live and work here!).
The cottage is surrounded by a fascinating mix of historic sites, coastal and clifftop walks on the South Downs, country pubs and idyllic villages such as East Dean and Friston.
Vine Cottage is literally next door to The Snug (another 1-bed cottage annexe), so makes a perfect base for families or friends to stay close by together.
Central Eastbourne is an easy stroll away as is the beach and all the other attractions such as theatres, Towner Gallery and both Royal Eastbourne and Willingdon golf clubs.
Historic holiday cottage in Eastbourne – delightfully presented
The cottage is spacious with an open-plan kitchen diner immediately as you enter. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering holidays including a fridge (with small freezer compartment), hob, oven, microwave, washing machine and utensils, plus a generous table and chairs to seat up to four.
To one side of this living space you step down into a tranquil, comfortable sitting room. Complete with a large TV in front of sumptuous sofas this provides an almost instantaneous feeling of relaxation. A rear door from this room leads to a private patio area where you can enjoy a glass of wine in the open air, plus there are additional shared spaces you can enjoy within the grounds.
Upstairs in the eaves of the cottage is a spacious bedroom with a kingsize bed, plenty of storage space and views over the scenic Motcombe Gardens located in front of the property. There is a handy toilet on this level, plus a main bathroom with bath and shower over on the ground floor.
The cottage is centrally heated throughout making it suitable for stays throughout the year.
Linen and regular towels are provided (bring your beach towels), together with enough milk, tea and coffee for welcome drinks. WiFi is provided and there is unrestricted street parking if needed.

Very nice cottage well appointed in nice area. The cottage is a modern and clean in a very nice area of Eastbourne plenty of local shops pups and restaurants it is about a 20 min walk into town but is near the Eastbourne to Brighton bus route and they run every 10 mins. Sited next to the baths and opposite a lovey park the area is very quiet we will certainly try to book again the next time we visit Eastbourne.
There is a week-long minimum stay and bookings run from Friday to Friday in peak season, although flexible arrival days and short breaks may be possible out of season.
Costs include the weekly rent, a £30 booking fee and a returnable £200 security deposit. To book requires an immediate, non-refundable deposit of £200 per week booked (booking fee and a portion of the rent) and then the balance, including the security deposit, is due by no later than six weeks before your arrival. For stays of three weeks or more, you may be asked to pay a higher security deposit. The security deposit will be returned to you within 1-2 weeks of your departure, minus any deduction for damage, loss or excessive cleaning required.
The checkout time is 10am on the morning of departure – a fine may be applied if you do not leave on time. Please leave the property in good order – dispose of rubbish in external bins and wash up any pots/dishes. If the accommodation is left in an unreasonable state, requiring deep cleaning, the cost for this will be deducted from your security deposit.
One small well behaved adult dog which has been spayed / neutered may be considered on a selective basis and, if approved, a supplement will apply. Please contact the Exclusively office to discuss your pet if you wish to bring them. Any pet given permission to come must not be allowed on the beds or furniture or left in the property alone. They must only use a pet bed and pet bowls that you bring with you. You will be expected to clean up after your pet and are liable for any damage it causes. Please bring a separate towel for your dog to wipe muddy / sandy paws before entering the cottage.
The property can only be used for the maximum number shown on the booking correspondence. It must not be used for improper, illegal or immoral purposes. Guests must not sub-let the property and must not change, add, move or remove any items of furniture, furnishings or structures inside or outside. Guests must not cause (nor allow any visitors to cause) any nuisance, annoyance or disturbance to neighbours, the property owner or the property owner’s agent. Strictly no smoking throughout the property.
