Vine Cottage is the delightful conversion of former stables in the grounds of Grade II-listed Motcombe House in the Old Town area of Eastbourne, just a short distance from the town centre and 1.5 miles from the seafront and the iconic Victorian pier.
With the perfect beach town location and the rolling hills of the South Downs, holidays in Eastbourne with dogs can be the perfect getaway for the entire family. A well behaved small/medium dog that is neutered/spade will be considered, meaning your favourite companion can enjoy the fun as well.
Immaculately refurbished and transformed, this historic holiday cottage has retained much of its charm and atmosphere and is beautifully presented accommodation. While an attached annexe to the main house, it is completely self contained, with its own private entrance and patio garden.
The Old Town area is peppered with independent shops, historic churches and pubs (check out the roaring log fires at the 12th Century Lamb Inn and majestic St Mary’s church, also from the 12th Century). You can play tennis in Gildredge Park, feed the ducks in Motcombe Gardens or enjoy the finest pizzas in Eastbourne at Pizzarelli (you might tell that we love Old Town – we live and work there!).
The cottage is surrounded by a fascinating mix of historic sites, coastal and clifftop walks on the South Downs, country pubs and idyllic villages such as East Dean and Friston.
Central Eastbourne is an easy stroll away as is the beach and all the other attractions such as theatres, Towner Gallery and the Royal Eastbourne golf club.

The cottage is spacious with an open-plan kitchen diner immediately as you enter. The kitchen is well equipped for a self catering holiday including a fridge, hob, oven, microwave, filter coffee machine, washing machine and all the utensils you’ll need, plus a generous table and chairs seats up to four.
To one side of this living space are a few steps down into a tranquil, comfortable sitting room. Complete with a large TV in front of sumptuous sofas this provides an almost instantaneous feeling of relaxation. A rear door from this room leads to a private patio area where you can enjoy a glass of wine in the open air, plus there are shared spaces you can enjoy within the grounds of Motcombe House itself.
Upstairs in the eaves of the cottage is a spacious bedroom with a kingsize bed, plenty of storage space and views over the scenic Motcombe Gardens located in front of the property. There is a handy toilet on this level, plus a main bathroom with bath and shower over on the ground floor.
All linen and towels are provided, together with enough milk, tea and coffee for welcome drinks. WiFi is provided and there is parking for one vehicle on the driveway, plus further unrestricted street parking if needed.

This property accepts dogs only with prior approval (surcharge applies). Smoking is not permitted.
There is a week-long minimum stay and bookings run from Friday to Friday in peak season, although flexible arrival days may be possible out of season.
Costs include the weekly rent, a £30 booking fee and a returnable £200 security deposit. To book requires an immediate, non-refundable deposit of £200 per week booked (booking fee and a portion of the rent) and then the balance, including the security deposit, is due by no later than six weeks before your arrival. For stays of three weeks or more, you may be asked to pay a higher security deposit.
The checkout time is 10am on the day of departure – a fine may be applied if you do not leave on time. Please leave the property in good order – dispose of rubbish in external bins and wash up any pots/dishes or load into the dishwasher and switch on before you depart. If the accommodation is left in an unreasonably messy or dirty state, requiring deep cleaning, the cost for this will be deducted from your security deposit.
Small, well behaved adult neutered/spayed dogs are considered on a selective basis and, if approved, a supplement will apply. Please contact the Exclusively team to discuss your pet if you wish to bring them. Any pet given permission to come must not be allowed on the beds or furniture or left in the property alone. They must only use a pet bed and pet bowls that you bring with you. You will be expected to clean up after your pet and are liable for any damage it causes. Please bring a separate towel for your dog to wipe muddy / wet paws before entering the cottage
The security deposit will be returned to you within 1-2 weeks of your departure, minus any deduction for damage, loss or excessive cleaning required.
The property can only be used for the maximum number shown on the booking correspondence. It must not be used for improper, illegal or immoral purposes. Guests must not sub-let the property and must not change, add, move or remove any items of furniture, furnishings or structures inside or outside. Guests must not cause (nor allow any visitors to cause) any nuisance, annoyance or disturbance to neighbours, the property owner or the property owner’s agent.
