This is excellent year-round accommodation – a wood-burning stove (with complimentary logs) helps make this a cosy hideaway in the winter, whilst in summer the French doors open to a terrace overlooking wide lawns and woods beyond.

This characterful country cottage is split over two floors and sleeps up to six across its two bedrooms. The downstairs bedroom has a double bed and a single bed, while the open plan loft room boasts a double and two single beds. There is also a shower room, with toilet, on each level.
The open plan, ground floor living space is set around a central, circular wooden stairway which leads to the attic bedroom.
At one side, a fully equipped kitchen has everything you need for a self catering holiday – oven, hob, fridge, microwave and washing machine. A cosy lounge area includes a sofa, armchair and flatscreen TV, set around the welcoming, wood-burning stove (although central heating is also provided). The dining table comfortably seats six and is strategically placed by the windows, so you can enjoy the fabulous views over the grounds.
Outside you’ll enjoy your own veranda, complete with patio furniture for al fresco dining when the weather is kind. This is a wonderful setting for young and old, surrounded by wildlife, with chickens, geese, ducks and even Kevin the peacock all to be found in the grounds – and more beckoning in the woods with its pond beyond.

The online weekly booking prices shown are for up to two people, using just one of the bedrooms. For each extra person, there is a supplement of £50 per week, up to a maximum of six people. If two people wish to use both bedrooms, they can simply pay a third person supplement.
The delightful village of Newick, near the South Downs, is 20 minutes from Brighton and 10 minutes from Lewes. The village holds several country pubs, restaurants and shops.
Nearby attractions include Plumpton Racecourse, the Bluebell Railway at Sheffield Park, which also includes the famous Sheffield Park Gardens, owned by the National Trust. Head west to the equally picturesque gardens at Borde Hill whilst also nearby is the village of Ardingly with the South of England Showground, home to the South of England Show each June, and various other events throughout the year. Whilst in Ardingly you could consider visiting Wakehurst Place, with strong connections to Kew Gardens.
Ashdown Forest is also a short distance away, with 14,000 acres of lowland heathland and woods provides a unique habitat for many species of flora and fauna, and, of course, is the ‘home’ of Winnie the Pooh! For those who love walking or cycling there are miles of trails to explore and views that carry the eye south towards the South Downs.
Just outside Lewes is Glyndebourne, the world famous opera house where opera has been held annually since 1934.
The cottage is just 15 minutes drive from Lewes, Haywards Heath and Uckfield train stations which enjoy direct trains to London, Gatwick airport, Brighton and Eastbourne.

Pets are not allowed. Smoking is not permitted. Rental base price shown online is for up to two people (use of one bedroom only) and for each extra person there is a £50 supplement up to a maximum of six people. For three people upwards, the second bedroom will be available. If two people wish to have use of both bedrooms, they can simply pay the third person supplement.
There is a week-long minimum stay and bookings run from Saturday to Saturday in peak season, although flexible arrival days may be possible out of season.
Costs include the weekly rent, a £30 booking fee and a returnable £200 security deposit. To book requires an immediate, non-refundable deposit of £200 (booking fee and a portion of the rent) and then the balance, including the security deposit, is due by no later than six weeks before your arrival. For stays of three weeks or more, you may be asked to pay a higher security deposit and/or booking deposit.
The checkout time is 10am on the day of departure – a fine may be applied if you do not leave on time. Please leave the property in good order – dispose of rubbish in external bins and wash up any pots/dishes. If the accommodation is left in an unreasonable state, requiring deep cleaning, the cost for this will be deducted from your security deposit.
The security deposit will be returned to you within 1-2 weeks of your departure, minus any deduction for damage, loss or excessive cleaning required.
